Ok so I have three beautiful little boys and my husband and I have decided to try one more time for a little girl. This time I am going to take it slow and try to track ovulation and such... I got my IUD out July 2nd so my cycle has been wacky since then.... I spotted the 4th and 5th then again the 17th-19th and then again on the 23rd and 24th... Starting the 24th the positive line on my opk test strips started showing up very lightly... just a very faint line that looked the same each day..no darker each day or anything) till the morning of the 3rd. Then I got my first real positive. I started having increased dishcharge 2 or 3 days before then... I took another test later that afternoon and it showed up negative (no line at all) and that evening my discharge stopped pretty much all together (I tried to do the cervical mucas thing everyday and i couldn't really tell what I was doing)...
So my question is do you guys think I ovulated since I did get a positive but my cm or whatever stopped that same day and retesting later that evening came to a negative... I always though you'd get a positive for like a day and the cm would stay more stretchy or whatever till you ovulated. And I thought once the test showed up positive that meant you would ovulate in 24-72 hours...so why would the discharge stop a few hours after the positive test??
I am just trying to figure all this out...Thanks for any opinions! <3
Typically, after ovulation you will see your CM become creamy, and the OPK's will go negatively quickly.
It's quite possible that you caught the tail of the LH surge, and that explains why your CM dried up so quickly after the last positive OPK. A positive OPK means you ovulate in 12-36 hours time.
Thanks for the reply! We aren't quite trying yet, I want to start ttc in october. That way I can monitor myself well till then and figure out my exact ovulation dates and stuff. I really want a girl since I have three boys so I want to be sure I am not ovulating early or such this time.
Anyway thank you very much again!! Your reply really helped me figure things out.
Ooops... in all that I forgot to tell you that the best way to learn your cycle is to take your temperature every morning before getting out of bed. A lot of programs are out there to help you with charting, I use fertilityfriend.com
Thanks I will go check out over there as well! I have heard a lot about BBT but don't know much about it...I would have to buy a special thermometer right? Or do I just use our regular digital one? Thanks again!
I bought a digital thermometer with two decimal places. You can even buy them quite cheap off ebay. If you check out the fertilityfriend website they have a lot of info on charting, enough to send your mind spinning! Its great to be able to see what your body is doing during your cycle, and I learnt a lot about my mood swings and libido doing it. It was a valuable exercise for us. DH even knows now when I am going to be cranky and when to stay away, LOL.
