Lea - my OB offered to give me a S & S when I was 40 +3.. and I declined because I hadn't had any cramps, and knew that my cervix wasn't actually doing anything. So we waited until I was 41 + 3 to do a S & S - and in that week my cervix had actually started to soften and was dilated 1cm.

I think my body absorbed too much stress around me and thats why I didn't go into labour naturally.

Please try to relax and enjoy the last few days of your bub kickin the hell out of you from inside
I'm sure your body knows what to do, just wants to make you wait a while for it!!!

Onlyone - there are OB's that do induce for VBAC's - just not with chemicals. And I'm very happy to know that you wouldn't stay at home to have a VBAC - because of course, this conversation is ABOUT YOU.

Lea, most acupuncturists I know wont do induction acupuncture until at least your due date. Did you know what experience she had with it? So important they are experienced in it. Keep up the EPO, there are herbs and acupuncture to help with this, shame you have had a bad experience hon... hopefully you can hitch up with that doula, she will be your rock and keep you going, just hang in there and go for your life hon!!! Watch the business of being born to keep you strong...

Lea if you want to chat, please phone me! I'll PM you. I had a VBAC for Jovie and was 11 days post EDD, I refused induction and basically had heaps of arguements from my hospital and was told I was putting my baby's life in danger (with no proof, just a general assumption!) If you need someone to talk to at any time, or someone to hold hands during appointments, if I can I will. I'm in Wynnum but thats not too far away. I am passionate about VBAC and having a right to choose.

Onlyone - not to go off topic, but at BB we aren't anti caesarean. We are pro choice. Often women aren't actually given choices but are told what to do next when it comes to birthing. There are heaps of misconceptions as to reasons for having caesareans. Women are lied too, told they can't birth and have major decisions in relations to their bodies pulled away from them. I was. Over and over again. Women are traumatised by birth. BUT ultimately women need to be educated enough to make decisions as the options aren't given to them.

onlyone... um... you do know you are posting in the VBAC section.

    Thats:

    V - Vaginal
    B - Birth
    A - After
    C - Caesarean

The women in here are here for a cheersquad to keep them motivated and informed about VAGINAL birth after caesarean. So if I see a woman in here needing encouragement, I will give it, as will everyone else. I haven't seen any negative comments in here at all, and perhaps you need to consider why you feel that people talking about vaginal birth is an attack on you?

If you could please join the other forums if you feel this is intimidating.

Lea, I am so sorry to hear you are feeling down and at a bit of a loss.

Have faith in your body. It knows exactly what to do.

Kelly has given you some great ideas. Great story BTW Kel.
I think the most important thing atm for you is to stay grounded. Try to forget what the Dr said about your cervix today. Keep up with the EPO and everything else. Maybe find yourself a quite corner and have some visualisations of your cervix softening and opening up.

I am another homebirth VBAC girl, trust me it can be done. My cervix was only 1cm dilated on Saturday evening and still very posterior. Abbey was born early hours of Monday morning Alot can happen in the space of just a couple of days.

Lea I can't stress enough the truth of statement!!

I've had mother's who've been a week, ten days post dates with cervix's closed and unripe. Two days, four days later...they go into labour.

One lady had a three hour labour with her first baby, two days after she was told to have a caesar because she was 41.5 weeks and not dilated at all.

Have faith in your body and your baby - babies want to be born, and bodies don't want to be pregnant forever. When it's time your baby will come...I promise you hun

My cervix was unripe, tight, hard.... nothing on the Monday, they wanted to book me in for a c/s on Wednesday or induced, I booked in to see the OB on the Thursday to review our situation... (they were pushing for c/s due to a "large baby" ) I went into labour Wednesday evening spontaneously. I was in the maternity ward with Jovie in my arms at the appointment time.

good luck with your VBAC. i had a csect with my son he was my first, i had one because they induced me at 39weeks for no major reason except my own impatients. My cervix was hard and posterior and i dont think i had any chance of the inductiion working.
I went from the Tues to the Sat before they decided on a section. He started coming on his own and in 8hrs i only dialated 1cm so off 4 a csect coz he was distressed., Anyway i am determined to have a birth my way and thats a VBAC unless my baby is distressed or something i am having it my way!!
So good on u for trying.
i just think u miss out on so much when u have a section, such as bonding and breast feeding straight away etc...

Anyway enough babbling from me lol, i cant wait to hear that u have had a successfull VBAC. :-)

I remember when that happened to me, both times. Girls who were due after me had their babies... I had to swap belly groups because my baby due the 28th wasn't there by the 1st.... than she wasn't there by the 8th! You feel left behind even though you know you will be there soon enough.

Yup happened in my group too...... you do feel like absolute cr@p... I did a lot of crying. Feel free to vent, cry, whinge, b!tch and complain cos I know EXACTLY how you feel hon.

Don't worry - soon you will feel the pain of labour and want it to go away.... lol

hun, as everyone said feel free to vent, another one here who knows what it is like. My belly buddies thread was closed on me before I had even had Isabelle - boo hoo, it was horrible so I joined the next group because she was due the 8th May and didn't arrive until the 19th.... Hang in there babe.

sorry i was lurking and wanted to respond,

charmalea sending good vibes to you, just remember you know your body better than any DR.

i will quickly tell you about my story: i had DS at 41 1/2 weeks, i went into labour naturally got to the hospital at about 4pm they broke my waters and there was mecionum (sp??) so i was taken to theatre to have an emergency C/S due to complications of Preeclampsia, i had him at 7:25pm i got to feed him for about 1/2 hour then i got air lifted to a Melbourne Hospital, i didnt see him for 5 days.
With DD i was ADAMENT that i wanted a VBAC, i had to go to a larger hospital 1 1/2 hour away from home, after a long labour and an epidural (which i suspect i needed due to the drip being up too high) a fight with the training DR (he wanted me to have a C/S coz it was taking too long WTF??) and a fantastic nurse telling me not to listen to him, my DD was born by VBAC, it wasnt a text book delievery but i still got my way, and i felt sooo empowered and if i had to choose over i would do it again in a heart beat.
now im pregnant with no #3 im going to do it MY WAY!!!! Im going to do what i thinks best for my body and my baby.

hope to hear news from you soon. Good luck.
