Birthing Bargains

I saw in another thread someone saying they didn't know/couldn't afford a birthing ball.... thought I'd share my latest bargain.

They are selling "gym balls" at The Warehouse (bargain national chain store - a la Reject Shop style) for $10.99. Your choice yellow or blue. Sitting on mine now.... sweet relief.

Have also thought a 40 gallon drum would be a cheaper alternative to hiring a birth pool but I think the crane hire/cow harness needed to hoist me in and out would offset the savings. Is anyone aware of bargains to be had or hired?

A lot of IMs provide a birth pool as part of the service. However, there are a few kiddie pools out there which are not too expensive which will do the job just as well.

Google Ocean Reef birth pool - an inflatable with thick sides and a cushioned bottom which is available for around $80 - a lot cheaper than the $180 La Bassine (but not quite as deep)
