if you're swollen down stairs it might be a bit uncomfy - it shouldn't be much different to having a pap smear though - so if you've had one of those.... the main difference is that some clinics put the embies back under ultrasound guidance, you might feel like there is pressure (full bladder, tum being pushed on...) - i never found it particularly painful though...

focus on the screen and watch your lovely emby go back - it distracts you from any potential discomfort! it's very exciting!

Hi Brooke,
Congrats on your the start of your first IVF cycle, and hope that all is going well and that you are in for some great news on Mon.

I've had two EPU followed by transfers, and have not found them to be any worse that our frozen transfers, although I was still 'recovering' from the pick up. I find that I get some discomfort at the time of the transfer (fresh or frozen) - a little bit worse than a pap smear, and then can have a few craps for a day or two after (which can happen according to the nurses I've spoken to). Despite nothing specific after a fresh transfer, I do tend to take 3-5 days off after the EPU- it just takes me time to get over it and the drugs - so I dont think it is strange if you are still feeling tender! This is my experience and I know that other girls have had more or less discomfort/pain, depending on their individual situations.

Dont hesitate to ask your FS questions, or tell your FS if you are feeling pain during the procedure and always ring the nurses to talk to them if you dont feel 'right' - that is what they are there for!

Good luck and wishing you all the best with this cycle.
FG
