Cot Sheets
For the life of me I cannot find any cot sheets in the stores that are 100% cotton, I do NOT want polycotton!
Have found some nice ones on line - at about $80 a set!
Has anyone recently bought some good quality cotton cot sheets? WHERE???
Any websites anyone may know of?
I mainly want fitted - I know with DD i had about sets and that was just enough.
Any BB wahms out there who make these?

I always find Myer have them - I too get 100% cotton cos both my kids have had eczema from a young age for the first year so I have to be careful with clothes too - people think I am just fussy when they give us pressies for bubs and I check the tags to see what they are made of

I got a heap on sale at Myer ages ago, plus the ones I have gotten from Kmart - Mother's Choice or something like that they were, they were all 100% cotton too. The Target ones are 100% cotton but they are so thin and crappy they aren't worth carting home.

Target has 100% cotton sheets - they didn't look too thin and nasty to me. I've also seen them at Big W, but as we'd already bought a few sets from Target I didn't bother checking the quality.
I've seen a few different brands in baby shops - but they seem hideously expensive in comparison!
We're the same - neither DH nor I can cope with sheets that aren't 100% cotton (it feels like sleeping in a plastic bag!) so there's no way we're going to make our little one even try it!

For my first baby 13 years ago (!) We were struggling for $ but I wouldn't compromise on 100% cotton so I went to an Op Shop and bought some great sheets that felt like ex-motel sheets.... very thick, you could tell it was 100% cotton, probably 700+ thread count too (I love my 1000 count sheets these days!) and my mum made them up into cot sheets. I soaked them in Nappy San first. So that was dealt with for about $10 from memory. Got about 4 sets and that was enough... people bought us a few extras and we were given a few extras... but the Op Shop ones were the nicest. They fitted perfectly too because mum was able to measure the mattress.
I agree with BW too.... sleeping in synthetic feels so humid and yuk... just like a sleeping bag.

Like you bath, I can only do natural fibres, I could never put a baby in synthetics.
I can't sew My mum is happy to make flat sheets for me, but I want fitted (what an ungrateful child!!)

I got some yrs ago for DS's cot from Target and they come in a set of one fitted and one flat and to be honest they are still in really good condition after all this time. So nope i can't complain about Target quality either.

Fitted sheets are very easy to sew... I haven't needed to do it myself but I watched my mum (just incase I needed to make more... she lived interstate)... and all she did was measure out how much fabric you would need once tucked in... then laid it out flat... cut about a 30cm square from each corner... sewed the corners together (4 straight lines per sheet) then folded over a hem wide enough to slip the elastic through... sewed around the sheet... then she got a medium sized safety pin and threaded through the elastic (or you could sew it on to the actual sheet... I wanted it separate incase the elastic "died" and I could replace it easily). And that was it. But I guess you have to have a sewing machine... and you have to learn how to use one if you borrow it... i know, all very tricky if you're new to it. Oh and it's better if you have an over-locker... makes it look much more "professional"... but it is do-able with just a standard machine.
ETA: I know this is not feasible for you Kitten... just thought I would tell other members if they are considering making their own.

David Jones has 100% cotton cot sheets on sale
Hi All,
I bought some lovely sheets at David Jones on special - they have 30% off at the moment- I got Living Textiles- 'Duck' 100% cotton. Really cute. And they fit Boori cots.
Flat sheet & pillowcase (which I know are no good for newborns) came down to $20.95 and the matching fitted sheet came down to $14.95.
I got 2 and half sets that I can mix and match- so now I have about 6 cot sheet sets, and only 1 for the cradle which I'll be using first off!
Hope this helps.
Carole

I saw some on special in DJ's the other day (probably like the ones fingerscrossed saw) I am pretty sure that the fitted sheets were about 15 on sale and they were really nice quality.

Bubba Blue and Living Textiles available at some baby stores, Myers and DJ's are 100% cotton. I particularly like the Bubba Blue as they are a thicker cotton and wear really well - DS's sets are still like new aven after nearly 3 yrs of use, whereas other cheaper brands have shrunk in the wash or thinned in patches where they are laid on most often. Well worth the extra $$ and on sale atm at DJ's anyway so probably the same price as others right now.

Spotlight/Lincraft sell cot sheets too. Might be an option if there is one near you.
