Default WOODEN LETTERS OF CHILDS NAME - how to decorate???

Hi everyone

well we are counting down the days. 1 week to go until our first bub arrives. we think its a boy but are unsure so have painted one room pale blue and the other pale pink. all our furniture is white.

we want to get those large wooden letters to spell the babies name to stick to the wall above the cot.

Question i have is how should we decorate them? has anyone else done or seen this?

i dont know wether to do them plain white or a darker shade of blue or pink or all letters different bold colours??? IM LOOKING FOR IDEAS HERE!!!

if anyone has done such a thing or has seen such a thing could you please reply. oh and any pics or links to pics of this online will be great!!!!

thanks in advance for your help!!!

I would paint them a darker shade of the wall colour or a bright contrasting colour

My friend painted hers in a darker color than the walls and then stamped them with flower stamp (she had a girl) in white ink.

I've done this a couple of times for friends and my own DD. I've uploaded a pic for you in the Gallery...just go to the top of your BellyBelly page and there is a tab called Gallery...I placed it under the craft and creations folder. Sorry not sure how to put link in here.

You could also just google name plaques or wooden letters under images and you'll get loads of examples.

I looked at doing this as a stall / business idea as well but think too many people are doing it - but it's heaps of fun.

I make these letters for all my friends when they have kids. I've also sold a few too. I buy the letters plain and paint them a range of shades. Usually pinks for girls and blues for boys but each letter is always a a little diff. I ahve also done greens, purples, lemon's and a mixture. I then stick on a range of decorations .ie ribbon, stars, hearts, buttons or flowers and polka dots that I paint on. I love doing it and people appreciate it because it's something that is unique and special for each name I make.
