Default Did your number of snowbubs affect your decision to have more children?

We have 8 snowbubs in storage.
DH and I both agreed that 2 children was our magic number, but I find myself thinking about trying for number 3, and I think the main reason is because we have 8 embryo's in storage.
I'm sure if we didn't have this many (or any at all) that I wouldnt be thinking of adding to our family one day.

So my question, did the amount of embies you had in storage, affect your decision to possibly add to your family when you thought it was complete?

Nic

It did in some ways. I kept going until they were all gone. I was trying for #2 but it never happened.

It did for me but sort of in reverse. I have no snowbubs left so will not try for anymore as I don't want to do a fresh cycle.

Well, I am kinda cheating and answering in advance... (as I have no children as yet OR snowbubs, but I'm working on it, Day 9 of my first IVF cycle!) But I think it will... DH and I have decided to have a "every frostie gets a go" policy. That means we will transfer in every frostie we get eventually and if we end up with lots of children, then that's they way it ends up!

It has for my DH.

I always wanted a larger family but he was set on one. Now that we have frosties (and am hoping that this one sticks) he has started talking about the "optimum age gap". I am keeping quiet but silently jumping for joy

We only have one snowbub left, and i know one day that id love to use it! Just not yet, as we both agree it would be too much and not fair on Addie and Will. Im not sure how i would feel having eight left! Its a really big decision. DH wont even consider any more babies right now hee hee! And i have to agree. But i would like a bigger family.

DH & I are the same as Ruth - we'll give every snow bub a go (if we get any.. 4 stim cycles previously and none to freeze, so who knows?)

I would have as many children as my body would physically allow me... and as long as DH could make enough pizzas to ensure that I didn't have to work again for a LOOOOONG time

DH is the typical Sicilian man with his attitude on children... the bigger the numbers, the better

I always wanted 4, he's wanting at least 6... we have Luke so far, so we'll see how we go

I'm so selfish atm that I couldn't possibly imagine giving my embryos to someone else.... but I'm fairly certain thats almost 100% due to the fact that we haven't had any luck with the IVF yet.

My opinions may change later on.... (But I doubt it, I want all of them for myself )

Fortunately, children do not need perfect parents. They do need mothers and fathers who will think on their feet and who will be thoughtful about what they have done - James L Hymes, Jnr.

8!!! well done nic!
We have 6 in the freezer. We'd like 3-4 children (ideally) so we'll probably just end up using them all (figure some won't thaw/stick).
If we get extremely lucky and end up with extras, I'm not sure what we'd do. Before I had DS we thought we'd donate any extras. Now I feel differently about that (not sure why, something to think more about later on, when and if...) DH doesn't want them going to research, and I don't think either of us would want them to be 'wasted' so we'd probably just go again.

Hi Nic,

I have brought this question up also as we have 2 snowbubs in storage. If there were no snowbubs I wouldn't even be thinking of going back. Like happymel we have twin from our last cycle and DP has said 2 is enough. I think it is to early for us to decide and they will keep the eggs for up to 5 years.

So to answer your question :

Did the amount of embies you had in storage, affect your decision to possibly add to your family when you thought it was complete?

Yes

we were very fortunate to have "beginners luck" with IVF so with one snuggling in, we have 8 frosties in-waiting ...

when I told my Mum we were pg and have lots of frosties I think she was going to suggest that we should just use them all ... but she asked me how many and when I told her she sort of gulped and said oh... that would be a tribe!

DH has been talking 2 kids, I've always been keen for 3 ... I'll leave him in peace for a while but I'm already quietly wondering if I can do a FET while still BFing (plan to BF for 2yrs+). I'm not sure if the number of frosties will make me think about having more than 3, but I'm hoping it will make DH consider having more than 2!!

We have one frostie left, and have said no more children, IVF was such a taxing experience on us emotionally (we were living in separate states due to work) and i don't think we could do it again. I still don't know what we are going to do with our frostie, don't even know what our options are.

We have still 5 snow bubbas left and having just had twins a year ago - I dont imagine that each of these little ones will be given the chance by us. I would like to go again, but DH is not so sure just yet... But in answer to your question I think I would want a third anyway whether we had snowbubs or not - and prior to the twins I would have said only 2, so....

Either way all our snowies will get a chance one way or another as any I dont use myself will be donated to infertile couple.
