for Oscar! Now the real fun starts Michelle hehehehe As for O's birthday well we'd love to come but unfortunately we dont live in Sydney anymore AND we wont be going through there on our way up north til end of June.
Well Ripley seems to be doing better now he's switched formula so maybe thats what caused the tummy upset. But Ive got some parsley in my fridge JIC Lisa, Ive even written your handy hint down so I dont forget it/can share it with others.
I cant remember if I mentioned it but we are supposed to be moving to Townsville at the end of June (hubby is in the military). Well today he tells me that a guy at work asked if we'd consider swapping our townsville posting for his Brisbane one I thought about it and we decided that if they can switch all the details over by the end of the week then we'll take it. Just when Id gotten used to the idea of Townsville too But brissy was 2nd on our list of places we want to go so yay for us. Either way we move and start anew somewhere else.
Its crazy though and I dont know whether to feel excited or nervous or what.

Hi everyone - sorry I have been MIA... Nothing wrong, just a busy few days. I have popped in and out but had no time for posting!
I took DD12 on a shopping expedition on Saturday - we went with a friend and her daughter. We had such a lovely day - so that was nice.
I have just started myself on a gluten free diet as of today. I have a massive headache and can't stop drinking I feel really really ordinary - so, hopefully that will wear off in the next day or too...
Anna - I lived in Townsville what seems eons ago - incredibly stifingly hot was how I remember it - had lots of good times on Magnetic Island though
Michelle: I am so happy to hear Edna is doing her thing in there. Remember that cramping - remember it from Oscar's pregnancy. I know it's head doing in stuff but it IS normal...
Spring: Are you coming to Brisbane????? I would love to have one of 'our" group that had bubbies around the same time nearby...
All the other gorgeous women... Big hugs and I will be here tomorrow..

Anna: I was born and bread in Townsville and I absolutely love the place. Deb is right, it is hot but you do get used to it. Make sure you've got an aircon room to sleep in because there is nothing worse then tossing and turning because it is still 30 degrees at midnight. It is a fantastic place to raise kids, I would love to go back. I met DH there when he was in 1RAR (he is out now) and it was only for work that we moved.
I then moved to Brisbane and it is awesome, I am trying like crazy to get back there. The city is fantastic, and the weather is the best in Australia. You have to South Coast, which is more commercial with all the theme parks and then the beautiful North Coast which is gorgeous.
So I reckon either way you are spoilt for choice. If you have any questions from an ex army wife about either of the places including Lavarack Barracks or Enoggera Barracks just ask.
Deb: We are so close to being home. I am going to back at Kallangur so a stones throw from you. I'm already booking you in to be my birth support partner for the next bub if you are up for it with a crazy lady like me.

Wow you've all been a chatty bunch lol.
Don't get too excited over Sage's sleep. We've only had that 1 night and last night was shocking AGAIN and so far tonight he's been up 3 times since 7pm I can see the Mr Panadol coming out tonight if he wakes again sreaming the house down. Not a good thing when its high pitch in your ear.
I'm starting to think about sleep school but don't really like the idea of controlled crying. I don't know, I'm feeling like this is never going to get better
Michelle WTG Oscar on those 1st steps. How exciting for you guys. Oh and try not to worry too much about the cramping hun. As Deb said "its normal" and Edna is just letting her mummy know that she's tucking in nice and tight
Willow Its funny that you and your dh are having the convo about another bub. Dh and I had the same type yesterday and he too doesn't want anymore even though we'd always agreed on 2 and he didn't want 4 like me in the early days. I didn't want to stop at 3 as I'm the youngest of 3 and always felt left out when growing up iykwim so I wanted 4 as 2 didn't seem like enough(in saying that though, I wanted 4 by the time I turned 30 and that hasn't happened). I've become more comfortable with the idea of 2 and now when he said he's more than happy with 1 I'm a bit concerned that he won't change his mind when the time comes. I think with Sage not sleeping isn't helping the situation either.
I hope you and your DH can agree on this in the future hun. Its a toughy hey????
Also I hope you and the littlies are feeling better soon too.
I won't be able to make the next meet up either Its hard when you can't just chuck a sickie as much as I'd LOVE too.Maybe next time will be better for us. Its not too long until the next school hols so maybe then???? I think they are in July.
Hi to Spring,Janie,Jayne,Deb,Lynn and everyone else.

MAKO _ With Sage being the royal brat at sleeping, broaching the subject of more children is NOT the best time to sell it to DH! Do you think that something is troubling Sage? Perhaps an ear infection or something like that? It's just that it's been ongoing for some time now, I wonder if there is something underlying in the sleep? Just a thought, but of course you know him best!
MICHELLE _ I can imagine what curveballs Edna is throwing you with the cramping, but she is just moving 'furniture' around in her little bedroom & putting things where she likes them & getting comfy for the long haul, so just let her do her thing & you do yours - GET SOME R E S T!!!!
ANNA _ You're amazing do you know that? I think in the time I have been on BB you have had 2 or 3 major moves & look at you planning another one! How do you cope moving to a new city or do you have friends scattered everywhere & you just slot right in? I think it's brilliant. I sometimes wish that DH was ambitious enough to move states, but he just goes & works in CHINA & leaves us behind. I'd love to live on the Gold Coast. I have some friends there & I'd just love it me thinks!
WILLOW _ You're little namesakes babies are no longer 'rudie nudie' (naked) & have now 'grown their jackets on' (fur) as Jessica says. They are just beautiful & she is sooooo protective! I move her hutch around to get some nice warm sun when it's cold & she stands over guarding her little 'Horsies'. She is a very loyal & lovely mother! They are a week old today.
ME _ Had a very bittersweet day today. Jess started daycare today on her own. She was a bit nervous in the morning. But almost pushed me out the door to leave when she got there. I got back to the car & then went back & peeked in her room to see that she was ok & there she was, playing with the kids with not a care in the world. I drove home bawling. I was expecting her to bawl when I left, but instead she didn't give a sh&t so I don't know what was worse! She was happy to see me in the arvo, but wasn't thrilled like I expected. She had a great day though & has been talking about the songs she sang, the games she played, the food she ate, etc... so I think it went well. She is going again on Fri because of the P/H on Monday which I think is mint that they let me swap & then from then on she goes on Monday's only. So I feel as though I've done the right thing & Claudia loved herself stupid having free-range of all the toys PLUS Jessica's bedroom!
Big hello's to everybody!
Love Jayne xox

Ah Jayne Im hardly amazing, I was born and bred for military life lol My Dad's in th army, going on 30 years! I got lucky though and spent all of my highschooling in Sydney and thats where I met DH. I know a few people in different places through friends, from BB or actual friends but I truly have to start anew everytime. Im lucky enough to have found a group of Townsville girls, military and civilian, on a different forum who are eagerly awaiting my arrival up there so they can show me the town. Luckily enough I have kids to aid in the friend making now which is alot better than being young and kidless How come your DH works in China????
Spring, well Dh came home last night and said "I want to go toTownsville" so I guess its decided lol Im secretly happy because I had just started to look forward to it. Plus the army offered us a house, nice big 4 bedroom in Kirwan, so I guess it was a sign! Everyone Ive met loves Townsville so I guess that many people cant be wrong. Oh and my hubby was an infantry soldier too! A paratrooper with 3RAR but now he's doing the fitter armament course to fix weapons etc etc but he's going back to 3RAR in a year.

Mako: If I had a buck for all the times I've almost gone to sleep school I would be rich. Willow has had a good experience with Sleep School, perhaps she will be able to make you feel better about your concerns with CC. Oliver's sleep is slowly getting better but it isn't great by any stretch of the imagination. He is getting on to 9 months and I guess I just presumed that he would be in some sort of sleep pattern by 3 months, what a fool I was I know how hard it its, but luckily you have plenty of tired mummies in this thread to give you plenty of sympathy.
Jayne: Oh poor mummy, sounds like yesterday was a toughie for you. I'm sure Jess missed you heaps, and it sounds like she had a really interactive day so you've done the right thing. I had to have a laugh when you said Claudia had a ball being free range. What a cute image.
Anna: You will have a great time up in Townsville I'm sure of it. Kirwan is great, fairly central to everything. The kids will love it, I'm envious, I wish I was moving back home. If I'm up there visiting the family I'll let you know so we can meet IRL. The Strand is my absolute favourite place to waste a weekend. You will have to try La Cuchina (sp?) in Kirwan, it is a Italian restaurant and makes the best penne marinara ever.
Well DS has had a temp. 38.4 last night but came down quickly with panadol. It was back up to 38 this morning but has come down again. He doesn't have any other symptoms and seems fairly happy by all accounts so I'm not worrying too much. Still feeding and eating no worries. Mum thinks it could be his teeth bothering him. The top left one is through but the right one has a bit further to come. I'm just keeping an eye on him and I'll take him to the doctor if it goes up again this arvo. Do you think this is the right thing to do?

Spring - Sounds like his teeth to me too, If he's still eating & drinking I wouldn't be to worried, maybe just up the fluids a little bit. Sounds like you have it all under control
Hi to everyone else, hope your all well?
Seems that my 3 yr old Isabella has decided that my bed is better than her own (again) she seems to go in stages where she'll come in for a few weeks, then goes back to sleeping in her own bed again, who knows what goes on in that kids head! LOL!

Argh I am still suffering the withdrawls of gluten Feel very very crappy and I can't concentrate and just a big grum!!!!!!!
Spring - I would love to support you in your next birth - what an exciting honour it would be. I hope you can get up to Brissy... I hope those temps leave soon my love. It is always worrying when they spike a temp. Frequent feedings and paracetamol is the way to go. Sometimes alternating with nurofen can help...
Anna: I live in the Sunshine Coast hinterland - I can vouch for the SE of Qld being a wonderful place to live. Great place to bring up children. We live in a little country town - I love it it is only an hour and half to Brisbane but far enough away to be bringing up little country bumpkins!
Jayne: Big hugs my love... It is so hard being a Mama...
Well my DS Angel's rose is bloom today. The flower makes me smile but the memory makes me cry...

Spring, sounds like you're doing the right thing hun, just keep an eye on him. My GP, who I trust immensely, told me that teething does not cause a temp over 38, there will always be something else. Ollie could just have a virus or something fairly innocuous

Spring, will definately have to catch up when you come up to Townsville As for Ollie, well most hospy's dont class anything under 40 as a temp BUT if you truly feel that something is wrong then dont hesitate to go see your GP or the hospital. Ive gone to the hospy when a temp hasnt dropped from 38 or 39 with panadol, sleep and cold compresses even though technically they arent at danger zone yet. I took Jett once when he was about 9mths old to the hospy because he had a temp of 39 and was just not himself and turned out he had a severe double ear infection. He ended up on a drip and in hospy for 2 nights. Im glad I took him even though I got the "first-time-overanxious-mother-his-temp-isnt-40-yet-no-dehydration-either" vibe. So trust your instincts.

ANNA - Beccy from BB (she hasn't posted in AGES), used to live in Kirwan & from what I am told it's pretty great up there. She loves the weather & sounds like lots of good beach trips in store for the kids!
SPRING _ HOw is the boy today? Hope that he isn't brewing something nasty. Glad to hear the panadol worked for you.
ME _ Have to come back later. I have Miss JP on my lap & she is bugging me to use this smilie : I will come back when she is off at Thriving 3's. Claudy is asleep on the lounge cos i"m doing the washing & her bedroom is right next door & it wakes her.

Jayne I'm pretty sure Sage is teething atm. His bottom gum is very soft and the tooth is very close to the surface. In saying that though the tooth has been close to the surface since he was 3.5 months old so really who knows.
You're also right about bad timing on my part to bring up wanting more kids lol. Although it was DH who came straight out and said "no more" and I retaliated of course lol.AAAARRRGGG the joys.
I do know that I'm jealous(in a nice way) of the mummys who's bubbas seem to pop their teeth through very quickly.
Last night was really bad,so bad that DH went to work with the s**ts and rang a little while ago saying that he'll be sleeping in the loungeroom tonight Like he's the only one who has disturbed sleep and then has to go to work
Spring How is Oliver today?

Hi guys,
Thanks for all the great advice about Oliver. He hasn't had panadol since 7.30 am and his temp has remained about 36.5 all day so hopefully that is the end of it. He was a little off his lunch and didn't eat as much as normal but he seems happy enough and is chatting away to himself. I will keep a close eye on him and see if it comes back.
BBL Got to try to get something done today.

Hi ladies,
Spring, so glad Ollie is getting back to normal.
Quick one from me, my friends DS is recovering well from the heart op but seems as though his diaphram sustained damage during the surgery, and he will need another op to fix it. His stats arent great either. Fingers crossed he will tough it out yet again and go home with his mummy soon. Im off there again tomorrow.
Alexandra has sprouted two more teeth, up to 6 now!
Oh and YAY OSCAR .. he'll be whizzing past mummy Michelle in no time, especially when Edna gets bigger and the only thing you can do is waddle!!
Gotta fly, try to BBL

Well Oliver's temp went back up to 38.5 so off to the Doctors we went. My usual GP wasn't available so after waiting a stinkin 1.5 hours!!!! we got in. Checked him over and there is not obvious reason, no ear infection, throat infection, rash etc. Said to keep an eye on him and the usual wet nappies, food and liquid intake. If he is still like this tomorrow night the Dr wanted to see he again.
The Dr said I know the books say teething doesn't cause temps, with all of her 4 kids they got temps so she said that could contribute.
So just have to keep an eye on him over the next 24 hours and treat with panadol and take it from there.
Lisa: I'm glad your friends DS is on the mend and I'm really sorry the poor little sweetie has to go through another op. He sounds like a very brave little lad.

OMG, I swear I've had two heart attacks this morning. DS is sooo blocked up with mucus that he's choking on it
I had him sitting on the floor next to me and he started choking, went freakishly quiet and then vomited everywhere - needless to say I panicked big time, but I picked him up, turned him over and firmly patted his back and he was OK then. On closer inspection he had one of his sisters stickers in his mouth!! It must have been on the floor and he picked it up. It was only a small one, but I think this and the fact he can't breath through his nose made his gag reflex kick in.
Then, I was opening a package (Michelle - my ergo arrived today!) and before I knew it, he had paper in his mouth and was gagging again!!
I just put him down for a nap but I'm so paranoid that I'm sitting here so I can hear him (yes, the monitor is on | |
