Wow, those prams are not cheap are they? I've checked all your suggestions, and googled your recommendations. thanks heaps for that. The babies galore online store was good too, thanks Kittycat and goodluck with your countdown. I'm sure you are right though Briggsy'sgirl, I will need to test the comfort factor. A lot of them look alike and say similar things but it won't necessarily be a good match for us. I think it will be a bit of fun too to go shopping with DH and choose something especially for us. I suppose I just got keen as I saw a pram for sale on a notice board, the Love n care jogger with all the bells and whistles for $150. It sounded too good to be true, so it probably was. i think I'll spend some of Kevin Rudd's money on this pram if I ever get my $900

    Cheers guys.

we ordered ours from viewing online (i looked at baby bunting and baby's galore) and said we'd only take it if, when we got to the shop, it was suitable. DH loves it - the only problem is "it's too generic - can' i put GT stripes on it?"

    hi again murph!
there is a good second hand store in Cairns that always seems to have lots of prams out the front.
it is just off sheridan street near the captain cook seafood store. i have never been there, but have noticed it a couple of times.

    Hi Everyone

Murph01- Just letting you know we got the strider DLX it has high handles as my hubby is 6'6, the handle doesnt move but the seat does so you can face it forward and back. It is suitable from birth to toddler and has all the safety features. You can also buy a bassinet and capsule for this stroller and it comes in both 3 and 4 wheels. We didnt buy the bassinet or capsule as we have a bassinet for our room and the capsule only goes to 9kg i think which wont take long if the child is 4kg born then you have to buy another one so we got the safe n sound meridian AHR which goes from birth to 24kg i think. We managed to get our pram for $595 and car seat was $560 we saved nearly $300 by shopping around...so my advice is to scope out early and then keep an eye out for bargains.

AFM: Thanks for your well wishes everyone we are slowly working out this whole earth parent thing and will change my ticker when i figure it out (help please!!!). As for i think it was meagan but its highly probable im wrong i think Jacob is a great choice of name... obviously... which seem popular atm (3 others when i was in hospital) we picked it for unusual reasons more than 5 years ago! His name translates to instead of rowan...who is my late disabled brother who i shared a unique bond with. Anyway sleep calls!

    Love Bee, DH and Jacob

Hey Murph, same as Bee we got the Strider DLX and I love it!!
Didn't get the travel system or bassinet as we also have the meridian AHR and a bassinet.
We paid $503 for the Pram from Baby Kingdom (BTW the best place to shop and best on price I think

    AFM, 30 days and counting
I think bubs has already sorted out his or her sleeping pattern as we seem to be waking up at the same time every morning
12-12.15am, then 3ish for an hour?s play in mums belly, then 6ish.
I wake up so tired ATM but am loving every minute of these last few weeks.
Also finished all of bubs washing and only have 0000 and 000 to go.

Thanks for your info Bee and Nicole, I thought there were a few girls that had Striders as well. It certainly seems to have a lot going for it and I will be checking it out in the shops when I get a chance. I'll also check on those other websites. It's great to get your advice, it really is a jungle out there.

Bee, how are you going? I hope you are getting the hang of the earth parenting. I imagine it's harder for Jacob getting used to being outside the womb...what the, who turned on the lights? Your reasons for choosing Jacob's name will make it always special to you for all the right reasons, no matter how popular it becomes. It's special to you.

    Cheers,
    Ange

Congrats to Nixon on the wonderful birth of your little pink bundle. Love her name and cant wait to hear more about her and how you are going!!xxx

Murph - Just on the pram thing, we ended up buying a Steelcraft Runabout Layback Stroller from K-Mart originally priced at $229.00. It had all the features we wanted in a pram, reversible handle, disassembled with one hand, aluminium light frame, not ridiculously expensive, not too bulky, converts from layback position with a boot cover for a newborn, sits up to stroller position for a toddler etc. They were having a 20% off sale so it was marked down to only $185. After we made the decision to buy it, Kim was looking at the boxed ones trying to find the colour we wanted (Black) and came across a box that had the same pram but it was slightly different. After some comparison and then consultation with the sales assistant, we discovered that the pram was the prior model to the pram we were looking at buying and was pretty much exactly the same as the newer model except for the colour and design of the fabric. It was remarkably marked down to $75.00. Then we found out that the 20% discount applied to this marked down model as well, so the end price was $60.00!

We looked at the more expensive prams etc but friends of ours never got around to using the basinette part and their baby outgrew their pram after they had used it about 10 times, and ended up buying a stroller anyhow. We figured that to save money we would buy a stroller that layed down for a newborn so it was suitable from birth to 17kgs. We also bought a carseat that is suitable from birth to 18kgs to avoid the extra expense of a capsule. A capsule would be handy to carry the baby around in, but we are wanting to use a baby sling anyway.
