Default Hysteroscopy info required

Hi, does anyone know when during your monthly cycle do you have a hysteroscopy? I have had 3 m/c and my ob has suggested one to look into things a bit more after a HSG showed 'something'...

Also, can you TTC straight away afterwards? It's not like a d&c or anything is it, where you have to wait for a full cycle?

i am sorry about your m/c

i think it sounds like your doc wants to wait until after you have ovulated before doing the Hysto. There is a b/t you can have at day 21 of your cycle that measure a hormone to make sure that you have ovulated that month- maybe he wants you to wait till then and go in between then and AF

you can go for it straight after a Hysto- they say you have more chance of conceiving after a hysto as it like having a clean out and a grease and oil change!!! LOL

good luck and let us know how you go.
btw i didnt have to wait for a particular day when i had my hysto- just pot luck what day it was

Megsy - I had a hysteroscopy after my second m/c. Ob suggested we do one as part of our investigations before we ttc again. I had mine procedure 3 days before af was due so that month I just felt like I had a really long af. We didn't try again straight away because I still had some more tests to do. Ob found a uterine polyp during my procedure which he removed. Whether it caused my m/c's I'll never know for sure but here I am now 17 weeks pg. I felt that having the procedure done was something positive and made me feel much more confident when we did ttc again. I fell on our fourth cycle ttc again (second cycle of Clomid).

Good luck, I hope you have a sticky pg real soon.

Hi,

I had a hysterscopy and laparoscopy done on the 31/07/08 to get a sub septum removed and to check everything else. I had this done with SIVF. I know its easy to say but try not to worry about it. The procedure is simple and your in and out in half a day.

I bled for 6 days after which isn't uncommon do you know if they are going to treat anything if they find something? That would be a good question to ask your doc. That way if they do find something they can remove in then and there and you wont have to go in for another one.

I asked my doc at SIVF as I thought AF was coming the day b4 the op. And he said it doesn't matter what part of the cycle you are at.
Good luck and if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask

Thanks for your responses ladies. Saw my OB last week and have booked in for 11th Sept. He said if he finds 'something', he will deal with 'it' during the same procedure. I'll be at about day 7 of my cycle, and ob gave me a blood test request to do 2 days prior to the procedure to make sure I'm not pregnant at the time (shouldn't be, but it gives me peace of mind to do the test).

I am not too worried about the op - mainly because I don't know much about it or what polyps/fibroids are. I figure it might be best to keep it that way so I don't stress out. In the past I have googled everything and that has just led to heaps of stress. Will just have to accept whatever happens and trust my OB.

My biggest concern at the moment is what if I get pregnant this cycle??? I've just passed my fertile period this month and hubby and I 'tried' like we usually do. Am I just setting myself up for another m/c? I know that sounds terrible, but it is a possibility I guess. So if the tww is not bad enough, this one is even tougher...

Hi Megsy,

Well if it's meant to be it's meant to be try not to worry about if you are pregnant or not. The wait after the op is the longest. After the bleeding stopped we had to wait a full cycle as FS had me on Permian for 34 days and provera for the last ten. I have 10 more days to go and then I have to wait another for my next cycle to start.

I know you said that you dont want to know what they do in the op but it isn't that scary it's quite interesting. If you go on you tube and type in the search engine hysterscopy and fibroids or even just hysterscopy there are clips showing the procedure.

Or if you want to wait do it when you get home so you know what they done. I did it for my septum as I didn't quite understand what happened and I watched a number of clips and now I do.

Onto another subject have you tried acupuncture? I had mu first appointment last thurs with a person who specialises in fertility and it was amazing what they can tell just by looking at your tongue and feeling your pulse.

The acupuncture doc said he thinks I have had my miscarriages due to lack of blood circulation in the uterus. He has put me on TCM and acupuncture once a week.

Hey Tam, great to hear from you. Well you wouldn't believe it, but I'm pregnant again (4th time now in 18 mths) but I have had some bleeding. Not a lot, but enough to worry me and stop me getting excited. Strangely I'm not totally freaked out though - the bleeding was very light, mostly brown with no cramping and has virtually stopped now (it started on Tuesday - one day after I got my first BFP). I'm just taking it as it comes now. I rang the OB and I had blood tests for HCG and progesterone on both Wed and Fri. So I don't actually get the results till Monday. The weekend is going to be a very long weekend indeed, but as you said Tam, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I actually get some comfort from that, but that being said, I really think it must be my turn to get some good news! Regardless of what happens, like AJC says, I'll never know what was found in my HSG has been significant or not, so I can't worry about the 'what if's' in relation to that. Pretty ironic huh. I'll keep you posted.

Hi there..
I had a Lap and Dye (same as your doc wanted to do) on Aug 5th, before that my period was on July 27th.. although on August 5th when I had the op I had 3 days of bleeding... Im not sure whether or not that counts now as a period / not.

Anyhow I found out last week Im also preggers!
