Twins or More Just when we thought having one baby was tricky enough, mums to multiples often have extra challenges with two or more babies of the same age. If you are a mum to twins or more, this is where you can exchange experiences and support with others.

Default Hey

Hi!!

i am relatively new to this forum and after a lot of search have found the twins thread. I am presently 30wks 5 days preggie with twin boys. Had gone for my ultrasound today and got to know that they r big babies (no wonder the pain and pressure on my back and ever increasing breathing problem). The doc says my bubs heads are quite generous in siz and that has got me worried. Is there anyone who had or is going through the same experience? Any word of advice form your docs? When is the best time to pack my hospital bag??

Hi there! Congrat on your twin pregnancy.

When my twins were born, the doc noticed their heads were big for their sizes and said that it might take time for them to get their balance and crawl or walk. We still have to mesure their HC every 2 months for now. It's still a bit bigger than normal, but growing at a normal rate. Sarah has been crawling at 13 months and walking since she was 14.5 months old, but Samuel is still looking for his balance to walk by himself and he only crawled when he was 15 months. He'll walk when he's ready. I take him to physio twice a month, just to strenghten his muscles.

Other than that they are both perfectly healthy and happy little toddlers and full of life.

I packed my bag at 30 weeks and they were born at 34w6d.

I hope you are bit less worried now.

Enjoy the end of your pregnancy

my girls were born at just on 36 weeks and were the size of singletons! My dr was just happy that they were a healthy size i think. They were 2.5kg and 2.8kg. Enjoy your pregnancy - hope it's smooth sailing from here on in!!!

I have bought 3 pairs each for mu bubs for the hospital. What all do you think should i pack for them?? also do I need to sanitize apart from washing the clothes I have got for my bubs?? Please do let me know and once again Congrats on Samuel's first steps

Hey Pheonix thats great!! I am just worried as the radiologist sez that the heads are big and the first one's body is not proportionate to the size of the head....so am just a little concerned. Hope your little one's are healthy and doin fine!! What kind of birth plan did you plan for yourself??

Hey Jazz! It's great to see him walk.

I can't remember how many pjs I brought. I think 3 each as well. I brought a lot of singlet 0000 (which were too big for them). The pjs were too big as well. They spent 3 weeks in SCU, and we borrowed one or two little outfits overthere too. Don't forget to bring nappies as well. I hope you can keep them inside as loooooooooooooonnnnnnnnng as possible.

I would suggest you to become a member of your local MBA. It's great to meet other twin families and share tips. Have a look at multiplicityworldwide.com

Chris - hi and congrates on Sarah and Samuel walking ... My Joel is walking and my Samuel isn't . So cute to see them toddling.

congratulations Jazz on your twin sons - how blessed.

Keep them cooking as long as possible.

It is probably okay because they would do more tests otherwise. The bellys measurement isn't nearly as accurate and it is just an estimate anyway.

Pack your bag now ... unless you trust your hubby.

I had my guys at 35wk4days - I had stuff laid out and had to pack in a hurry.

I agree about joining local MBA for support & friendship and advice.PLus sometimes 2nd handstuff in very good nic.

goodluck for rest of your pregnancy ...

pack your bags now!
my bubbas made their entrance at 31 weeks and were in care for 33 days
i just washed my bubbas clothes in my normal soap powder. The hospital linen for bubbas is washed no differently than the adult linen! If you are worried you can use a low allergy formula or wash in lux flakes or wool wash
as far as joining your local amba club- just log onto the amba web site which is a dot.org.au site. If you put your post code in, then they will list the contact details for you. If you can't get onto it, just let me know your suburb and i can let you know. The MBA girls are really my saviour, and the best support i ever got was from them - i would've gone insane without them!!! They also run great ante-natal nights that may answer alot of the questions you may have.
good luck and keep us informed of your progress. Also we are all here to support and help- so any questions just fire away!

Hi Odette!!

Thanks a lot!! I can't put in words how touched I am with your words of reassurance!! At this time when you don't have your family around one is already lost and down. But these kind of words really bring you back the excitement one is about to experience with the little bundles of joy one is going to get. I really want these 2 to stay in as long as possible and I really don't want them to spend even a single day away from me once they are out. I will definitely try out the site that you helped me with. Just wanted to know how these girls have helped you?? Do they come to your house??

do you mean the amba girls?
they are amazing. . . for instance
just recently i lost my bubba at 12 weeks pg. I had seen the girls from my MBA the night before at a function. When i found out that our baby had died, i rang one of the girls. she was amazing just to talk to and we had the best cry on the phone . The next day one of the girls dropped soup in and a butterfly crystal from her and her family, and another one of my friends dropped dinner in the next night.
they were the first ones that were there for me- besides my DH and family.
I just find that my twin club buddies are such realists! You cant bulls-it to them that you are fine, even if you are not- as they can see it. they are also not in your face, but just to know that if you are having a crappy time that they are just a phone call away. they do not judge you!!!! and that is one thing that i found with my regular mothers' group. You survive anyway that you can and works for you!
my twin club also offered playgroup which my twins did from newborn(for me really) until they were 4 years old - and they loved it. I also use to go to the under 1's get togethers and the mum's night out. I also went to their ante-natal night and learnt more from them who are untrained medical, but experieced practicallity, than my hospital ante-natal. I am actually still friends with the girls i did ante-natal with as well!!
HTH! they really kept me sane- just to let me know that what was going through was normal!!!
where abouts in melb are you from???
keep baking those babes - for every day they are in utero is 2 days less in special care!!!!
how far along are you now???
where are you having bubbas?
take care
odette

hey .....m really sorry to hear about your youngest one! But its amazin how you keep urself so vibrant (ofcourse its obvious from your mails )

I tried the site that you gave me but it keeps openin some site of some dot company in Tasmania. Do you think you can help me with that?? I am in Murrumbeena in Melbourne.Dunno if you have heard of this suburb. The postcode here is 3163. Where is Montmorency?? Sorry never heard of that

My bubbs are due on the 23rd of November (as per the docs thats the full term of 40 wks) but am sure they are likely to come early coz I have read that the twins usually can come anytime starting the 30th week. I am currently 31wks 4 days. I just want them to stay in till the 36th week as the docs say that babies born in the 36th week and after usually dun require SCU. So u c I am very keen that I bake them inside for a longer time though the oven now is getting quite uncomefortable

Do let me know if you can help me find these MBA girls in my side of the suburb. Do you have any photos of your little ones?? I would love to see them if possible.

tc

ok I think the details for your local club Jazz would be the South Eastern MBA. which operates in the Moorabbin areas. the contact name is Jayne Sinnott and the number is 9592 6268.
Hopefuly this contact is still OK. Let me know how you go. Montmorency is near Eltham, greensborough - I am in the Diamond Valley MBA!
Good luck and keep packing those babes!!

Its getting difficult with every passing day. My breathing problem is going bad to worse. Can't sleep at all. I dun know how long its going to go on but now I really get exhausted especially when you dun get to sleep. Have tried all positions to ease myself up but no help. My bubbs r hell bent to poke their head and legs right up into my ribs. any suggestions??
