Is this true?? If it is then my plans for vbac have just flown out the window. All of my previous pregnancies have been late. What can I do to still have my vbac??

Hi my Twins were born at 34wks 5 days due to the blood flow in one of the cords. They were delivered by c-section. Sorry I can not help you with your question but just wanted to say All the Best.

as soon as you start reading about twin births it can really freak you out. Id recommend getting in touch with some independent midwifes, doulas, and also your local multiple birth accociation. What state are you in?

Dont let the literature freak you out to much. I had to have have an emergency c/section at 27 weeks but we had some serious problems but a lot of people dont. So dont give up hope of vbac with twins.

Some stuff just scares the hell out of you!
My boys were born at 35weeks naturally, even though I thought all along that I was going to have them C/S. I was scare mongered as well with all the things I had read on the internet and in books. MY boys were positioned one head down and the other lying across the top of my stomach transverse. So they were like the letter T. So I thought that twin 2 would be breech so it would mean C/S.

In the end though my waters broke at 35 weeks and when I arrived at the hospital my OB grinned and said "Lets try natural "
I was duly horrified as I wasnt expecting natural but it all turned out good.
Just make sure you have a OB thats experienced in delivering twins and is happy to go for natural. It is possible and it is better for recovery time going natural. Plus its bloody exhilarating to deliver 2 naturally!! I felt like wonder woman after they came out! I couldnt beleive I had done it!

A friend of mine had her twins naturally at 40 weeks with both babies being over 7lb each. They were about to take her off for an emergency c/s but by the time they got her on the trolley the first twin was crowning so they let her go.

I have 2 friends who delivered twins 5 weeks apart.

The first 2 kept switching positions going top to toe - kicking eachother in the head! At 37 weeks they were both head down ready to go. They were both born vaginally at 37+4 with an epi.

The 2nd 2 were born at 32+3 weeks & were also delivered vaginally. They were taken to Sydney where I think they decided on a vaginal birth as it is better for the babies lungs to be born that way.
I don't know if she had an epi or not.

My 2 girls were over a week over due, but my 3rd was 2 days before the due date. So there is no guarantee that you will go over again. Especially with twins. I think they have a habit of coming a bit earlier.

Don't stress too much. These things are not definetely going to happen. It's a risk. It may be higher than it would be with a singleton, but it's still a risk that could happen in any pregnancy.

Talk to your OB, & MW & anyone else & find out as much as you can.

I'm 31 weeks and I saw my OB today and he said that they don't let twins go over 38 weeks. And it all depends on Twin A on what delivery I will be having. If twin A turns and goes breech than I will be having a c/ section, If not I will have a natural delivery so I've just got to wait and see what happens.

I just wanted to let you know that my sister-in-law had a c-sect with her first and then a vbac with her twin girls at 38 weeks so it can be done!

just make sure you surround yourself with people who believe in your ability to deliver your babies vaginally. DOn't listen to all the people who try to scare you and don't let them bully you into an early induction/section.

I can recommend 'Double Trouble' is you're after some positive, pro-natural twin delivery reading.

My first was born at 40 weeks +1 day and I had a spontaneous vaginal delivery with my twins at 37weeks + 3days so your twins may cone earlier anyway.

My OB also says she would hold out for 38 weeks but I know if nothing happened and there was no physical danger she would let me go.

She is also keen for me to deliver naturally as she says "your last baby was big - so these will be easy".
