Twins or More Just when we thought having one baby was tricky enough, mums to multiples often have extra challenges with two or more babies of the same age. If you are a mum to twins or more, this is where you can exchange experiences and support with others.

Default Fundal Height with twins

Hi I am new to the forum. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with twins. I already have a boy nearly 7 and a girl 5. So the twins will make 4. It was a shock to find out we were pregnant with twins although very exciting as well as very nerve racking. I had to give up work very early as I was hospitalised due to hyperemesis. I am still sick on and off and have aweful back ache and headaches. These past 18 weeks have been a rocky road but unfortunately I think it will only get worse as I get bigger. I am curious about other peoples fundal heights. Mine measured 23cm today at my 18 week checkup. Can anyone else tell me what their fundal height was at 18 weeks. Also what their fundal height was when they went into spontaneous labour. I am obsessed with fundal height for some reason. Thanks Kell.

Hey Kel
congrats on expecting twins
i wouldnt be stressing about fundal height as i my fundal height was that of a full term singleton and 23 week! Then you get just bigger and rounder!!!

I dont know what my fundal height was when i went into labour. I went into labour at 30 weeks- they stopped it in time. However it was a blessing as they discovered that my DS placenta had stopped working and they were delivered by c-section a few days later.
It was a rocky road the first few months especially, but they are now happy and healthy 5 year olds- and you wouldnt tell the difference!

I understand about the hypermenesis. I too suffered from it- loved zofran. I ended up loosing 20kg when i was pg as nothing would stay down! By it is the best feeling the day after you deliver and you get up for breaky and it tastes soo good and all stays down!!!

I gave up work at 25 weeks full time and worked part time until the day before i gave birth. I thought i better at 29 weeks- little did i know that i would have one full day off before it was all action stations.

Rest as much as you can! You need it- a twin pg is a killer. I dont know one twin mum who enjoyed her twin pg.
Join your local Multiple Birth Group. The girls and guys there are the best support. They have great get togethers for all the family, as well a a source of great information and support. I would have gone sane without my twin buddies!
Most clubs also have a newsletter with a classified section full of second hand goods cheap as well. AMBA has a great website that can put you in touch with your local club.

Take care and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask away
Where are you situated at?
Do you know what you are having?

Congrats on expecting twins. I am sorry but I have no idea what my fundal height is. My ob checks me and does a scan and I know that everything is alright from that. I dont get weighed either which is lovely.

Look forward to hearing how things progress. There are a few of us expecting twins in here at the moment.

I don't have my 18 week one but at 28 weeks I was 32cms, 31 weeks 36cms & 33 weeks 42cms.
I thinks once I got to a certin stage the babies dropped so the measurements decreased.
