Default Looking for doula - eastern 'burbs Melb

Hi,

Should I post here looking for a doula, or just contact people on the doula list?

I'm due 1st of Oct with our first, and planning to deliver at Mitcham Private. I'm happy for doulas to PM me or reply here? if that's the right way to do this?

Also, had a conversation here: Thinking about a doula... what did others think? re using a doula (just if you want to see what kinda bods me & DH are...)

Cheers,
Belfie

Hi Belfie, I live in Mooroolbark and used Julie Bell as my Doula. She was fantastic, so helpful prior, during and after the birth. I highly recommend her.
Julie chats here on BB and her information and contact details are in the BB directory.
Goodluck, I hope you find a Doula you are really happy with too.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hi ladies

Thanks for your posts. I'm slowly getting to organising myself to meet with some doulas and see who we click with!

Julie, I'll be in touch by email.

Lulu2, I'd love to get the details of Diane from you too please.

I also had another student doula PM me, but I wasn't able to PM back! But I would have liked to - it said you weren't able to receive PM's.?? Anyway you're welcome to send me you email address, cos I'm keen to talk to you too.

Sent you Diane's link - check the website, that's ME holding 3 minutes old Elizabeth in the bath!

If you do contact her, tell her Lucy sends a big hug!

I'm available in late Sept/Oct, and would be happy to chat with you and Mr Belfie about how I may be able to assist you if you are still on the hunt for a birth assistant......
I'm based up in the Dandenong Ranges - so not far away.
Please email me at nurture@netspace.net.au if you like

g'day everyone,

Lulu2, thanks so much for Diane's details.. and gorgeous pic!!! Just absolutely beautiful!

Donna - thanks for the message, I've got a few meetings lined up so I'll see how I go (is it possible to meet with too many people? hehe) but great to have your details too

Cheers,
Belfie
P.S. after meeting with our first doula today, DH now starting to realise just how useful a doula will be - VERY pleased with that! YAY!

I think that you are doing a great thing meeting with a few different women. I think that most people know when they have met the right birth attendant - and can then stop looking without feeling the need to meet others 'just in case'

Good luck!!
Donna
