Jen - i hope everything went well today for Tayneesha and she is recovering. I had a look at your photos and they are great!
Jen13- Slap Cheek is where you get really really red cheeks like someone has slapped them really hard and a spotty rash all over the body. It is contageous before the rash so like the chicken pox you may have passed it on before you know you have it. There is no treatment to get rid of it just panadol or the like, and rest. I think cause liam is at the end of the virus he is still unwell from that but normally there is not usually an unwell feeling. If you google you can find out more.
I must remember to keep an eye on the olympic swim team in 14 years time. By the sounds of it Lucy may be there!!!

hiya all
I have been in hospital for a few days so haven't had a chance to come on. I have an infection but clearing up nicely with antibiotics but the side effects from them aren't too nice.
Jen13 ~ The boys are going alright with the signing - so far DS1 says more, dad, drink, mum and finish. he will learn more at school, he is going twice a week, there are a few other children with speech and language problems there so they do a lot of signing.
Liz ~ Hope you are going well in the pregnancy and Tallon is giving you an easy time.
Jen ~ How are you're two girls going? They are so different from boys: I am finding out with my neice staying with me for a bit.
Kas ~ Any developments on the house? Hows Brad going at school, hows Liams weight? Hope he is recovering from that virus well, sounds unpleasant.
hi to all I have missed, hope all mums and bubs are happy and healthy.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread. I have a precious little boy Ewan born 12/3/06, and one on the way, a little sister for him due November 14.
It's great to hear that other Mums are seeing the dreaded toddler tantrums too! Ewan will throw him self on his back on the floor and wail. I usually ignore him and he stops very quickly if he's not getting the reaction he's after. He's had another tooth come through this week too so he's a bit grumpy.
Just some q's if that's OK?
Is there anyone out there still feeding (FF) overnight? My DS wakes for a bottle once a night and we cannot get him to drop it!
How many words does your little one have so far?
Should my DS be feeding himself by now? He doesn't yet know how to find his mouth with a spoon - he can self feed finger foods just fine though, he just can't get the spoon thing happening!
Has anyone put their little one in a big bed? We've bought another cot for our princess as I thought a big bed would make DS sleep worse.
Any suggestions for a routine when the new bub arrives. Ewan has his dinner at 5.30, bath at 7, then bottle and bed at 7.30. How do I fit in a new bub to that???
Thanks to all, it's great to find some other Mums with bubs the same age.

Hi Kris, nice to *meet* you! Congratulations on your pg with #2, there are a couple of other Mums in here who are pg, have just had a bub or are experienced since their March 07 bub was #2 or 3! So they are probably more help with your qns than I am!
Lucy is still bf, but hasn't woken up during the night for a feed for so long that I can't help you with that one. But I have heard that if you start diluting the amount of milk (more water than milk or just less formula in the bottle gradually) it won't fill them up as much and they'll eat more during the day to make up for it. Saw this on a TV show about parenting whose advice I find really sound, so it could be good.
Lucy has had a few words for quite a while (Mummy, Daddy, boob, Charlie, Georgie (or her versions of those two, our dogs), na-na, hello) and has just started coming out with a few more in the last couple of weeks (puppy, baby, Hunter (her little friend's name)). Some of them are more distinct than others. Not having much luck with 'please' yet though!
As for feeding himself yet, well it kinda depends how long he's been trying, I guess. Lucy has been holding her own spoon since she was about 8 months and kind of gradually took over in the feeding herself. Now she won't accept any help until there's a few bits left in the bowl. But I used finger foods a lot (still do) to just encourage her to feed herself as well. I have friends who's little ones can't use the spoon at all, so I guess it depends on the child as well.
We are starting to think about turning Lucy's cot into a bed, but are waiting for it to warm up a bit more (sometimes we leave her door open and the heater on). We'll probably wait about a month or so. But Lucy doesn't move around hardly at all when she sleeps, so we aren't that concerned about her falling out of bed. Plus, I'd like a few extra minutes in the morning where she'd play with all the teddies she's thrown out of her cot!
Evan's night-time routine sounds almost exactly like Lucy's!
Good luck with everything!

HI Girls,
WELCOME KRISP AND EWAN TO MARCH BABIES 2006!
Well as you all no tayneesha now has grommetts in her ears Yippee!!! Her operation went fine she was such a good little girl she even got a heap of stickers! She is back to her normal self thats for sure so off to play with her friends today she has a boyfreind at daycare now and it is just so cute to see. They cuddle and put there foreheads together and giggle and all of that
Thankyou all for your kind thoughts as well.
A question to you all as well what finger foods do you give to your littlies just so i have some more ideas in case i need them?
Krisp well i might be able to help you on your ? i have just had another baby myself making my two girls 15mths apart.
1. with the milk at nightime no Tayneesha doesn't have milk at night any more maybe try and up his solids a bit or give him a bottle just before going to bed at night to top him up... Maybe someone else has some better advise.
2. Tayneesha says - Mummy, Daddy, Bubba, Car, Ta and other words in her own babbling language at the moment. Each child is different though Krisp so i wouldn't worry too much at all. It all takes time.
3. With the spoon i am not sure about this one once again every child is different Tayneesha can do the spoon to mouth and seems to not like me trying to help either but i do in the end as she can play around a bit but mostly she does it by herself. Finger foods no problems with at all.
4. No big bed for Tayneesha yet but thinking of making the cot into a big bed soon maybe another month or so? See how we go though....
5. Ok new bub arriving - Well jealousy can occur i have been fortunate to not have this at all and Tayneesha just adores her little sister. But if it does happen make sure you try and include both the kids into the routine so Ewan can help you with his new brother/sister etc.
Our routine consists of this. Tayneesha dinner 4.30pm bath 5.15pm into bed around 6.30 -7pm Tayneesha still loves her mummy to put her to bed so while i am doing the settling and reading books and getting her into bed etc DH does Shayla while he watches T.V. I found that FF and BF has been easiest for me especially when you have two under two. That way DH can help alot more and you don't go insane!
I also found that bathing the newborn in the morning was easier than at night as it is just too full on. Unless DH can bath one while you do the other? We sometimes do this as well.
I think overall the hardest thing is getting both kids ready to go ut somewhere etc it takes twice as long so you have to start getting organised at least 1 - 2 hrs earlier - I have nearly got it down to a tee though!
Anyway i can give yuo some more tips if you like just ask me and i will try and help you as sometimes what works for one person doesn't work for the other
Hope this helps and Hi to everyone else too. I haven't read all the posts so sorry if i have missed someone etc. How lazy am i gosh what a long post ok i am going now! Lol

Hi Kris and Ewan and welcome,
Congratulations on your pg!
I am still bf Liam at night before bed. As for waking at night we are still getting that but i think that is due to the cold or teeth and he will resettle without me feeding him. As harsh at it is to do have you just not given it to him and tried like a control crying or try to resettle him? or does he continue to cry until he gets it? As Jen said whilst ever they know they will get it when they wake they will continue to do so. Try giving him water insted in a sipper cup or bottle, it may be painful for you all for a few nights but he will soon get the message and not bother to wake if he is only going to get water IYKWIM (if you know what i mean). A friend of mine did this with her son and it only took a few nights.
Liam has no words. He nods for yes or pushes away for no and understands everything we say and will follow 2 step directions but just babbles. My eldest did the same and didn't really talk till just before he was 2 so i am not at all concerned yet.
Liam uses a spoon when he feels like it. From memory i think that started maybe 3 months ago. Very messy to start but now he is better at it. However if it is a favourite food and a spoon is taking to long he will always resort to his hands.
DS#1 went into a big bed at about 22 or 23 months. I would say we will migrate Liam to a bed when he either starts to climb out (which is what DS#1 did) or around 2 years whichever comes first. You may find Ewan may sleep better in a big bed than a cot if he is not waking into the bars. We bought a mesh side rail from a 2nd hand baby store and that kept DS#1 in. I guess it also depends on the childs size and ability to climb in and out and how they settle to sleep at night. The first week or so we sat with DS#1 so he knew he wasn't allowed to just get up and play and after that shut the door so he couldn't venture out to us and i think it only took maybe 2 weeks. If bubs #2 is due in November Ewan may well be ready by then to go to a big bed. My only advice would be don't change him right before bubs is due as you want him to feel as though the bed is his and the cot is the babys and not resent her for being in HIS cot IYKWIM. That way you will only need the one cot.
As for Ewan's routine with the new baby, play it by ear. Bubs may fit with this to start with and not interupt things to much but until she is here you can't really tell. Will your DH be home at dinner time and bath time. Maybe Ewans bath time could become a special daddy time or mummys special time when daddy looks after baby. This will also help him still feel important that you can spend that dedicated time with him seeing as though a new bub can take up so much time and Ewan may feel left out.
Steph- I hope you are feeling better soon. We *should* be moving the weekend of the 18/19 august. But *should* is very loosly used!!!!! It has been one hold up after another and mum and dad will have left the weekend before for an overseas trip for 7 weeks so they can't even help out with the kids now. I hope all of your family are well.
I know have Brad with the slap cheek. He had mon, tues and wed off school i sent him yesterday and he came out in the rash last night. He has been asleep since 11 am so i guess it is taking its toll on him.
Afterwhat feels like being trapped in my house for two weeks with me sick and then the kids i am off to one of the mums from schools place tonight for a tupperware party. I don't need anything but just need to get out and be without crying miserable kids. DH and the kids can watch the footy and fend for themselves.
Take care all

Jen- we were posting at the same time....So glad all went well for Tayneesha. And how cute about her boyfriend!!!!
Finger foods- jatz, cheese sticks, sultanas, watermelon, grapes/ any fruit cut up, sandwiches, muesli bars (Liam now has adult ones with yoghurt tops but you can get baby ones in baby food section), saos with vegemite, tiny teddies. I cant think of any more right now but go into the recipe section and look as i saw some posts asking this exact question a few pages in.

Jen - heaps of fruit as finger foods. For meal times I use pasta (the largish spirals, shells, etc) with some sauce and she still eats those with her fingers. Vegies in chunks she can hold (altho corn and peas were happily picked up with fingers as well) and meat in small pieces. Sausage cut up. Really, anything that can be easily picked up from the food we would normally eat.
For snacks, I sometimes give rice/corn cakes, but trying to stick to fresh food atm. There's a great simple savoury muffin recipe in that thread here (one can creamed corn, same can self-raising flour, same can grated cheese, mix it all up and pop it into the oven for 15 mins or so - voila! - can also add extras if you want) that was a big hit and is easy to transport. Avocado sandwiches. Dried fruit (sultanas esp). All in all though, I give her plenty of fruit and try to limit the snacks in the afternoon so she eats her dinner.
Glad the grommets went in okay and Tayneesha hasn't suffered much. Lucy has a boyfriend as well, Hunter, who she plays with two days a week (one day at our place and one day at his). They love each other and it's so cute, he'll go over and give her a cuddle and they toddle off and find things to do on their own (and if I haven't noticed them for a while it's definitely a bad sign!). They share their food and toys. Plenty of great photos of them in the bath together for when they're older! We joke that we're going to arrange their marriage for them (his mum is one of my best friends).
Kas - fingers crossed for the 18/19. Hope you're all packed up!

Jen - NO packing here until my carpet layer has started. I just spoke to supervisor and he managed to get out that he is "doin' my best mate" and listed what had been done and the few things that need fixing. I asked if we were still good for the following week as i rebooked carpet layer for the 15th and the reply was " i hope so, i'm doing all i can!". So NO, No packing here till i have the keys in my hand and my carpet layer is busy. So ladies I need all the positive house finishing, no rain, time management vibes you got. PLEASE!!!!!

Hi Girls,
Gosh haven't posted for a while but looks lke we all haven't we are busy mummies aren't we!
Kas - A BIG HUGE WOOOHOOO!!!!! The sticky vibes for the handover worked then. It must so nice to have a brand new house that is yours to keep. Happy moving and enjoy every moment of your new home.
Jimsteph - How are you? how is all the signing and that going. Hope you are all better now after your hospital visit.
Jen13- The pics of Lucy on facebook are just so cute Jen! Hope all is well for you and work not too busy for you. But i spose it is better to be busy than having hardly any clients etc.
Liz - Hows the pregnancy going how much longer now? Hope everything is ok with you and your not too run down etc
Krisp - Hope your having luck with the questions you asked previously. I also hope your pregnancy is going all ok as well. I hope your not too tired its hard being pregnant with a toddler it really can tire you fast!
Ok well Miss T is still getting her eye teeth through for god sakes i tell you i hope they are all through soon as it is driving me batty . She is only picking at her food because of it but then on some days she pigs out so i am over the teething part and i still have one more child to go through it. AHHHHHH!!
She is starting to say more words and understands alot more things you say to her now as well. She is going into a big bed soon once Dh makes it for her. I have picked the design out and all of that. She is going to have a king single i hope it isn't too big for her not to worry she will grow. Lol! She still has the same borfriend and another one has come on the scene as well. Tart she is.... Hee hee hee! Her sleeping is back to normal after the grommets so all is ok now in our household apart from the teething.
Shayla DD #2 still is sleeping through all night 10.30pm she goes to sleep and doesn't wake till 6.30am now so i am not keeping my hopes up as it is too good to be true. I am awaiting for her to change hope it stays like that though! She is also growing rapidly and is a dead ringer of Tayneesha at the same age but with more hair. I have put some more pics on heres the link and the Pwd is - Tayneesha22 http://s106.photobucket.com/albums/m254/aprilmum/?
Well that is all for me today and the rest of the week for now. Have a busy weekend again this weekend last weekend was flat out had a BBq at our house Friday with all the mums and Bubs then on Sat Dh and I did gardening and stuff and then Sunday went and visited a friend and then had to go to a bbq that night! This weekend is basically the same Bbq on Sunday and Sat taking Dh out as his B'day Tomorrow - Reminder to self buy a card!!!
Ok enough rambling from me and hope all well for anyone i missed
Jen

Hi everyone, all is well with our little family. Ewan is getting over a nasty cold and still has a cough so no playgroup for us this week. I think he's getting a bit of "cabin fever" as he really loves his Tuesday and Wednesday running around with the other kidlets. He is getting a molar too which means his sleep has been a bit more erratic (if this is possible) than usual. I know it hurts him and he has a very sore little mouth but sometimes I'm so desperate for sleep I just wished he would be quiet and sleep, but apart from 1 bottle overnight, a quick cuddle from Mummy or Dadddy for his other wake up calls and he's OK and back in his cot asleep.
Had my glucose test and it was fine so that's great. My Mum has insulin dependant diabetes so I do worry about it a bit but it's all good.
My OB is happy with how things are going, I feel HUUUGE but my measurements are almost spot on, I saw her last Friday when I was 26w 2 days and measured just on 27 so my hugeness is all in my head!
Jen - how do you find having a newborn with a toddler? Any tips on timing/routines? My baby bear has been on a relatively strict bedtime routine for ages now and I don't want o break it if possible. He has dinner at 5.30, his bath at 7, bottle at 7.30 and into bed. He goes straight to sleep by himself so we have no settling issues I'd just like to keep him on his bedtime routine if possible. I've forgotten what times he used to go to bed when he was a newby. Perhaps I'll try and get the bub into bed earlier, it's just that my DH doesn't normally get home from work until 7ish so he wouldn't be able to help much. He does do Ewans bath, bottle and bed every night now (he says it's Daddy time and I'm to stay away!) so not sure how to swing getting both fed, bathed and into bed. I do like to give a bath beore bed as it relaxes bub and helps them sleep.
Oh well, we'll get it sorted I guess, we have to we've got no choice!
Better fly, I'm getting hungry...again.......

Hi girls
Sounds like everyone is going well.
Kris - hope Ewan feels better soon. Good news on the diabetes test. I believe having gestational diabetes puts you in a higher risk category for diabetes later on, so maybe you'll be okay as you get older even with your family history. My cousin has insulin dependent diabetes (diagnosed when she was 21, so the juvenile strand, not type 2) as well, but she has managed to control it well enough to have a hassle-free pg until now. Only a few weeks to go for her. It will be strange to go back to having a newborn now our toddlers are getting so grown up!
Jen - Hope your DH's bday is a lot of fun on Sunday. Lucy is saying more words too, she'll often repeat things if I ask her (she's just gotten her version of 'please' but it doesn't always come out when I ask for it!). She repeats the sounds animals make when we're reading a book, moo for the cow is her favourite. 'Puppy' and 'baby' are the words she uses the most (apart from 'no' with a shake of the head - but to be honest I'm glad she can say no, since she tells me if I offer her something and she doesn't want it). LOL at Tayneesha's boyfriend. Lucy only has the one, she'll need to get some tips!
Kas - how's the unpacking and the settling in to your new house going? Bet it seems like you'd never get there! Do the boys like the new place?
Steph - how are you and the boys going? How's the signing coming along?
Liz - how are you? I can't believe how fast your ticker is coming along. At this rate, you will be able to shock your Mum with some tandem feeding!
As for us, we've had a bad week or so. Lucy's godfather Chris, a very dear friend of ours, passed away unexpectedly on Aug 3 from a heart attack. Completely unexpected, very healthy before that and none of the risk factors (non-smoker, etc). We are shocked and still very upset. I had some family up to stay for his funeral on Monday (he has known my aunt and uncle for over 30 years). It was great to see them again, but not under the best circumstances. I was also really sick last week (came down with a throat infection not long after we got the bad news, I don't think the shock and the crying helped), but am better now. We are trying really hard to be there for his wife and his eldest daughter is wanting to take on his role in Lucy's life, which is really lovely of her. Chris was the closest thing Lucy had to a grandfather (he was 61), since my Dad is out of the picture and DP's lives in England. I'm really touched that his daughter is reaching out to us when she's suffered such a loss.
While my cousin was staying with her 20 month old they took us to the Aquarium. Lucy and Hayley had a lovely time, perfect outing at their age. Tanks at their height, nothing they can't touch. Lucy liked the platypus the best and it very obligingly swam around and around, sommersaulting in front of her and everything. Lucy loved having a playmate for a few days and I think because Hayley is just a few months older started trying to copy her by talking a bit more.
Anyway, I must get back to work. Didn't get a lot done last week so have heaps to catch up on.
Hope everyone is well.
