Should I go back on the pill

Just looking for some advice.

I went off the pill in December 2005 and have been off it ever since. I had been on it for about 10 years and fell pregnant the first cycle we tried.

My DH is about to go away overseas for 3 months and will be on a malaria medication called Doxycycline. He was on this same medication just before we conceived Harrison and despite that the doctors all think the problems with Harry were unrelated, I just don't want to take that risk again.

So I'm thinking about contraception. We want to TTC about 6 months after DH returns from overseas so start trying about July/August of next year.

I haven't been on anything while BF DS and we have been using condoms. DS he has just weaned though. DH reckon we can keep using condoms but I really don't want to risk falling pregnant in that 6 months after he is back due to the doxycycline.

Is it worth going back on the pill? Will it stuff my cycle up and make TTC difficult? Any other suggestions for good short-term contraception.

Perhaps you could go on the minipill.

stupid questions I know, but what are the main differences between the minipill and the normal pill? I just want the most effective method (bar abstinence that is )

you could also try the neuvo ring (I think that is the spelling), it sits over the cervix and gives small doses of hormones.

Also you could try charting your cycle while he is away and then only use condoms on your fertile days.
