Default What the blazes is going on with this period?

ANY help appreciated!

I have something wrong with me, but we don't know if it's Hughes Syndrome or acephalitic migraine. If it's the latter, no biggie. The former (a blood clotting disorder) may impact on this, I don't know.

I had a really nasty event (something which would appear to be a severe MS attack but wasn't) in October, two days later I got my period (at around the right time and a bit light I think, wasn't focussed on that at the time). This period has been sooooo weird.

Firstly, I get brown spotting for 4-5 days (Sat-Weds). Then for the next day and a half/two days (Wednesday afternoon and Thursday) I have a light period (reddish) - losing about 10ml a day. Then Friday, I lose very little all day (brownish), end of period, bit heavier than spotting. Saturday, I have NOTHING from bedtime until midday, then I lose a load of red blood, sort of mid-period flow (about 10-15ml in 10 hours); today (Sunday) I'm back to end-of-period flow.

I was due at some point last week, so a period starting Sat-Weds (when I was spotting) would be perfectly normal. Oh yeah, due to me being ill, I didn't even see DH for a good two weeks this cycle so pg is SOOOO not on the cards! Didn't even get fertile EWCM... not that this stops my body, but I'm fairly sure I didn't see DH for my fertile point. And we're very careful with the condoms - which have all remained intact jic you're wondering.

Is this normal? I know it's not for me, but does anyone have any clues what could be going on? I'm still awaiting a diagnosis, hopefully the bloods will be finished next week but I'm just so confused!

I have no idea Ryn, but it sounds EXACTLY what happens when AF decided to show up for me (only a couple of times a year!), so I'll be watching for the answer!

Thanks for the reassurance, Sunflowa - it's good to know I'm like someone! Even if it's not me.

OK, Sunday was actually more like heavy spotting but today, Monday - nothing. At all. Quite a bit of mucus but NO blood.

What's going on?

I am figuring I usually have a 5 day period, this has been 10 days. I've also lost about half the blood I'd usually lose. Maybe a bit less. Plus the only pain I got was for a half-hour or so on Monday (quite bad) and mildly on Wednesday - made me feel a bit sicky and shakey, but not too painful.

What is happening to my body? Why isn't it being nice to me and just doing what it normally does?

My next period should be due... around the 13th? I'm leaving for Yorks on the 18th of December and it is definately due before then. So I shouldn't be a madwoman over Christmas at least... not that I mind when I go mad, just I don't want to do it in the middle of family gatherings! I also don't want to wait a month before I can think "phew, normal again".

PLEASE someone else agree that I'm normal! Or tell me why this is happening!

Hahah Ryn, you're as normal as everyone else on the planet

Feeling any better yet?

lol! Looking good there, Sunflowa!

I feel awful today, but that's nothing to do with this. Just got to wait a few more days so I can be "normal" again.

BTW, I know I don't want a pregnancy now. I have a son who stokes my arm while I throw up then does his own little cough over the bowl and wanders off, bless him.

Aww, how sweet is that!!

Have you done a HPT yet?? If nothing else, at least it'll stop you stressing about being pg - and in some cases stress can actually stop AF! She likes to ruin good moods, no point coming if you're already upset

No point - I'm ill due to the LP yesterday. I'm not pg; let's face it, you need sperm to get pg in the first place. I'm just broody. I want to be about 4-5m pg and stay that way for about 3-4 years LOL.
